Another chance to discover the fascinating history the lost town once built on an island at the mouth of the Humber The Ravenser Odd free exhibition returns by popular demand

  •  Cleethorpes Library
  •  2nd June to 30th August
  •  Free to view during library opening hours

The exhibition, Ravenser Odd: The Sunken Island of the Humber, delves into the history and folklore of the short-lived medieval town, which rose to wealth before being accused of piracy and stealing trade from its neighbours along the Humber.

The tour kicked off in September 2024 at Spurn Discovery Centre and made its way to Withernsea Library, where it was displayed until December. The response from the public has been overwhelmingly positive, with many visitors calling the exhibition “fascinating and informative.”

In 2025, the exhibition will be on display at Cleethorpes Library from Wednesday, 5 March, to Monday, 31 March, during normal opening hours. Following this, it will move to Grimsby Library, where it will be open from Wednesday, 2 April, to Wednesday, 30 April.

The exhibition is a collaboration between Hull Maritime Museum, The National Archives and the University of Sussex.
